One week to go and the nerves are kicking in!

The week before the race…
W/C 16th September
Tuesday
My last week of running intervals and it was a challenging one!
It was called jazzy A B C climbers. Mainly because I called it a jazzy session hehe!
It involved 3 points (A, B, C) and we had to run up and down them. Like explained below.

The B effort I found hardest as with the A, you did get a bit of flat at the top. It was good fun as there was a big turn out. We took over the path more or less .
This is one of the last sessions in the park before we move to the track. Looking forward to the return of track Tuesday’s!

Thursday
I’ve been at my job for about a month now and I’m more or less trained up on the essentials. It’s a lot and it’s been a stressy week.
I’d had a particularly bad day so was looking forward to get rid of all the stress with a club run. Only it didn’t work out.
It was a hilly, twisty turny route and there a lot of stop/starting. I just wanted to run and I didn’t really feel like I got that.
So I was still sulky. It’s one of those things. Not every run can deliver or fix things.
My right glute was a bit sore at the end too. Bad runs are normal. Just wish it wasn’t this late in the game!

Saturday
Week before my marathon means I was planning to run steady. Anything under 30 minutes really.
Only… I got carried away. My friend Dave was pacing 30 minutes and he sprinted off at the start.
Parkrun was very congested this week so it took some time for me to get past him. And then I was off.
I saw my friend Steve ahead, so I just kept behind him. I didn’t feel like I was going at a harder effort than planned, I was just having fun.
The plan was to overtake him during the sprint finish but as soon as he saw me he was off!
I wasn’t really supposed to be doing anything stupid so I happily ran down with a respectable time of 28.41. Faster than planned, but great fun.

Sunday
Only 3 miles ha ahahahaha.
I used this opportunity to volunteer at junior parkrun.

I set off a little earlier so I could complete my run. I ran to the park and ran a few laps around it. Sorted. I felt good and happy.
It was lovely to see Louise volunteer as well and I got to catch up with my friend David afterwards for some food. 🙂

Week 16 thoughts
With a week to go I feel really happy with the way things have gone.
When I look back to a week before Edinburgh marathon, I felt nothing like this. I should have known deep down I was never going to finish it.
Anyway… that is the past and it has helped me shape me today. Ready to run and complete my first ever marathon.
Let’s fucking goooo
