Hello strangers, yes I’m back.
I have still been running, but I have struggled to reach my goals. So I needed a much-deserved break. The goals aren’t going anywhere, but I am ready to try something new.

I’ve signed up to run the Edinburgh marathon in May, which will be my first-ever marathon.
I am a bit nervous about the distance, the most I’ve run is a half!
My friend Julia has kindly written a 16-week plan for me to start in February and having it has given me more confidence that I can do it!
I’m also going to be experimenting with different fuels to ensure I can start and finish strong. I’ll be perfectly honest when running a half marathon I only had an isotonic drink (alongside water) and a sachet of honey…
I won’t get away with that in a marathon!
I’m going to try Tailwind for liquids, I’ve got some Clif Bloks to chew on and I’m considering making some flapjack bites. Someone on Twitter recommended Milky Way bars which I’m DEFINITELY going to try!
I am really looking forward to getting started and trying these different fuels – it’ll keep me occupied as I go further and further at a slower pace than I’m used to!
It’ll be worth it in the long run though! 😉

I’m going to at least provide a monthly update on training and how I’m finding it all.
For now, I’ve just kicked off RED January. My favourite way to start the year. This will give me a solid base to start marathon training, alongside one of my favourite races at the end of the month – the Meltham 10k!
Please, send me your marathon tips! I love hearing about it all.
