It’s Easter week, which meant a long weekend but also some busy social plans! Fitting in marathon training has been a challenge…

Monday

Today was rest day, I was happy with how good my legs felt. Did the usual foam rolling and a yoga session.

Tuesday

Another intervals session in the park and the sun was shining!

It definitely put everyone in a good mood, even when Julia announced the session…

We ran longer loops this week which were much tougher, then the best bit – the downhill section was our recovery! Pfft!

I really struggled with the first effort, but once I knew what to expect I gave it my best.

I do love my Tuesday sessions as we all have a good laugh whilst pushing ourselves.

Wednesday

I have been feeling tired so I switched my cross training this week.

I did 15 minutes of weights, which was still challenging! Then I did 30 minutes of yin yoga.

It involved holding poses like lizard and pigeon pose for 4 minutes! I really felt them haha.

The weights class I did

Thursday

I think Thursday’s are my least favourite runs!

It’s mainly because I have to either get up before work to run, which is early ugh or run after work.

After work should be fine but cars and people annoy me 😂

I also have the stress of the work day to work through. I’m glad it’s easy pace so I can just relax and cruise through despite not being motivated.

It was a 60 minute session with 6 hill sprints. I didn’t really do well with the hill sprints but they are done. Meh haha

Friday

A Good Friday special at PT was circuits!

A full body workout with added reps for endurance, phew! Battle ropes, jumping, push ups, triceps, leg raises just to name a few!! I was exhausted!

That wasn’t the end though, we finished with sprints on the rowing machine. This was to try and replicate the end of my marathon when I’m tired and to push through. I think she was just making me suffer!!

That evening I went out with friends to watch a Pink tribute act in town. It was great fun with lovely friends.

Saturday

Parkrun day!

I was back at Huddersfield and I was feeling tired from the night before… I was not expecting much at all.

I kept it sensible and on the second lap I felt like I had some power and energy so I followed Melvyn who was pacing 28 minutes. Managed to hit just under with 27.59.

Feel really chuffed as I was not really in the mood for a run!

Tired but smug

With it being Easter, I had another busy day with a trip to Leeds to Flight Club. It was interactive darts and it was great fun!

Sunday

Luckily, I was home in good time the night before so I was in bed by 10pm! It was much needed.

This week I was running 2 hours 40 minutes, my longest ever run!

I had my route planned but I did run slightly quicker than planned which meant I had 13 minutes to run around Milnsbridge which isn’t the most inspiring!

I added some hills to the route and went somewhere a little different. There’s only so many out and backs I can do before I lose the will to live.

Edinburgh marathon isn’t very hilly but it’s still good to add them into training sometimes. I also can’t really escape them in Huddersfield.

I felt fine during the run but as soon as I stopped I ached all over. I think it’s a mixture of the long distance and the long weekend catching up to me!

Overall Thoughts

Another strong week and I’m really pleased with how I’m doing. Even with a busy weekend I managed to do well.

My Cliffe Bloks, Torq gels and Tailwind water are still really working well together. Definitely going to use this combo for race day.

This week’s song is inspired by seeing the Pink tribute act on Friday. I’m raising a glass in joy after my great run on Sunday 😂🎶
