I feel like this week has flown by! I’m trying not to look too far ahead in my plan and enjoying these early days.

Monday
So Sunday night was the Superbowl, I did drink a lot of alcohol and was hungover. Yeah. Nothing else to say about today.
Tuesday
I returned to track today and for Valentine’s day, the theme was running in pairs and chasing the other person whilst they jogged at recovery pace.
I did find this tricky as I didn’t know how long I had to run at a hard pace before I caught them!
Despite this however, it’s good to do something different and out of the comfort zone.
In future weeks, my club are starting a 6 week marathon training session at the track which is something I’m really looking forward to!
Wednesday
For my crosstraining day I did a 30 minute BodyPump Remix class which tackled the whole body.
I found it encouraging to revisit exercises I haven’t done for a while and see progress. This week I saw improvement in single leg glute bridges. Last year I struggled to do one set of these whereas now I was strong. It felt great.
I then did 30 minute on the spin bike, which I did go a bit too hard on. Whoops! My legs will probably ache tomorrow…

Thursday
Yes, my legs did hurt today! Silly me!
I headed to the park for a 40 minute easy run with 6x 15 second hill sprints!
I loved the hill sprints and the short time period. It felt really good and the 1 minute recoveries were much needed.
After the run I spent the day in Marsden, wandering around and enjoying the weather…! Perfect for ducks!

Friday
The strong winds ended up knocking my fence over, which meant I turned up to my personal trainer feeling quite tense.
It’s amazing how a bit of tension can make certain exercises more difficult!
A bit of a pep talk, a few calming breaths and I was focused on the session. It was arms focused so you can imagine my shoulders feeling all to tensed up!
I finished feeling much better and stronger. It’s great how a workout can make you feel afterwards.
Saturday
It’s parkrun day and the plan was to take it steady.
I had forgotten that my friend had offered to pace me this week and despite me telling him I wanted to take it easy, he stuck with me.
It wasn’t as painful as the week before but I didn’t really enjoy it. Mainly because of the weather! If it’s not icy, it’s windy 😂
Next week I’ll probably just do my own thing without getting too stressed over time.

Sunday
Today we had 70 minutes easy on the cards and with my 2nd hangover of the week. I’m obviously getting all the drinking in now before training ramps up… Haha not quite!
It was a run that got better as it went along. I felt much better at the end of it, but I still went for a nap later on!

Overall Thoughts
I am enjoying these early days, getting a feel of what I need to work on.
I am getting better at slowing down but still need to practice. I’m heading onto the canal next weekend so this will help. Looking forward to it!
